Duc Trong accounts for more than 60% of the province’s sweet potato output.

Duc Trong is the district with the largest sweet potato cultivation area in the province with more than 1,000 hectares per year. Currently, local farmers are planting 600 hectares of sweet potatoes in the summer-autumn crop.

Farmers in Duc Trong district have just planted 600 hectares of sweet potatoes for the 2021 summer-autumn crop. Sweet potatoes are mainly grown in remote areas of the district, where the land area is large and greenhouses and net houses have not been developed. The potatoes planted are mainly Sweet potato Japan, red skin, yellow flesh, rich sweet taste, suitable for altitudes above 800 m above sea level.

It is known that most of the potato growing area is planted under purchase contracts with companies specializing in exporting agricultural products. Sweet potato Japan grown in Lam Dong is one of the export products that is very popular in the markets of Southeast Asian countries as well as Japan, with an export volume of thousands of tons/year. Duc Trong is a locality that accounts for nearly 50% of the area and more than 60% of the sweet potato output of Lam Dong province.

Thanks to the suitable climate and soil, plus stable output, especially contracts to purchase products from processing units, Duc Trong farmers feel secure in growing sweet potatoes.
