A grassroots union has had a good way of doing things, which has been enthusiastically supported by workers. That is the original price grocery stall built and maintained by the grassroots union of Dalat – Japan Food Company Limited (Dalat Japan Food – Phu Hoi Industrial Park, Duc Trong District) for many years.

Ms. Chamaléa Thi Hong, a worker in the finished products workshop of Da Lat – Japan Food Company Limited, has just finished her shift. She quickly stopped by the grocery store right at the company gate, bought a kilo of sugar and a bottle of cooking oil to cook her meal. She shared that buying at the company store is very cheap, cheaper than at the market, and convenient for workers, without having to go to the grocery store or market. Not only Ms. Hong, many other female workers also took the opportunity to stop by the store to buy necessary necessities. This cheap grocery store is the achievement of the Trade Union of Da Lat – Japan Food Company Limited, which has been supported by workers for many years and is the pride of the trade union officials in the company. Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhung – Vice President of the Trade Union of Da Lat – Japan Food Company Limited, shared that as an enterprise operating in the field of agricultural product processing, the company has a large number of female workers. The characteristic of female workers is that they often cook their own family meals, whether they have a husband or children or are single, they mostly cook their own meals and rarely eat out. Therefore, 10 years ago, the company’s Trade Union came up with the idea of ​​building a booth selling at original prices to workers. The Trade Union discussed with the Board of Directors and received enthusiastic support from the company’s leaders. So the company gave the Trade Union a small room right at the security gate, the Trade Union used a fund of 40 million VND to buy necessities such as noodles, oil, rice, fish sauce, salt…, necessities for the workers’ daily meals. The goods were taken from level 1 agents, through an agreement with a very good discount, and the booth sold at original prices to workers. The sales people were employees of the company, paid by the company to serve, so all goods were guaranteed the best price. Therefore, workers often visit the booth to buy necessities for family meals, which is both convenient and reduces costs.

“During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen that our booth brings convenience to workers. Although at many times, workers can only go from home to work, they are still provided with goods at cheap prices, reducing many difficulties for workers,” Mr. Tran Anh Tuan – Chairman of the Company’s Trade Union proudly shared. Mr. Tuan said that for 10 years the booth has served workers, the company’s workers have had access to cheap goods with guaranteed quality. Therefore, the meals of the workers are both cost-effective and delicious, contributing to protecting the health of workers. Currently, once a month, the booth manager counts the consumption situation and purchases additional necessary goods to ensure that the booth is always full of items to serve the workers. With 300 workers, most of whom are women, the booth has accompanied the family kitchen, contributing to making meals for many families both delicious and cheap.

With an average income of 8 million VND/month, with many accompanying policies such as travel allowance, shift meals, holiday bonuses, etc., the workers of Da Lat – Japan Food Company Limited are guaranteed a fairly stable life. The shift meals of the company’s workers are one of the bright spots of the union’s activities, with hygienic food, cleanly prepared and a diverse menu, changing regularly. Mr. Luu Van Loi – Chairman of the Duc Trong District Labor Federation assessed that the company’s Trade Union is one of the unions with a very strong movement, closely coordinating with the Board of Directors of the enterprise to take care of the lives of the workers. In the current period, Mr. Loi said that many businesses in the district are facing difficulties, workers have to reduce shifts and work, but the workers of Da Lat – Japan Food Company Limited are still guaranteed full jobs and full benefits thanks to the efforts of the Board of Directors as well as the enthusiastic coordination of the enterprise’s Trade Union. And the company’s original price grocery store is an effective model of the Trade Union, bringing practical results to workers, attracting workers to stick with the business, stick with the Trade Union in a friendly atmosphere.
